Highlights of BJP 2024 Haryana Manifesto: Jobs, Women’s Welfare, and Infrastructure Top Priorities

As the Haryana Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto, or “Sankalp Patra,” for the state. The BJP’s manifesto, released on September 19, 2024, promises a series of bold measures aimed at addressing the core issues of employment, infrastructure, women’s welfare, and agriculture.

BJP is banking on these promises to ensure its return to power in Haryana, where it has governed since 2014. Below are the key highlights of the BJP manifesto for Haryana:

  1. Employment Generation and Industrial Growth

The manifesto places heavy emphasis on employment generation, especially for the state’s youth. BJP has pledged to create 200,000 government jobs and aims to provide an additional 500,000 job opportunities through various employment schemes, including the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.

The party promises a simplified hiring process to reduce delays and corruption in government recruitment, ensuring that jobs are accessible without hassle or cost.

To bolster Haryana’s industrial economy, BJP has announced plans to develop 10 new industrial cities based on the successful model of IMT Kharkhoda. Each of these cities is expected to create 50,000 jobs, stimulating local economies and encouraging investment.

The goal is to transform Haryana into an industrial hub while tackling unemployment, which remains one of the key concerns among voters.

  1. Women’s Empowerment

Empowering women is another central theme of the manifesto. The BJP has promised financial assistance of Rs 2,100 per month to women through the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, aimed at supporting women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

This initiative seeks to offer relief from economic hardships while also promoting the social welfare of women.

The party also aims to make higher education more accessible for rural girls by launching the Awal Balika Yojana, which promises to provide scooters to college-going girls in rural areas. This move is designed to facilitate better access to education and reduce dropout rates among young women.

  1. Healthcare Initiatives

Healthcare is a major focus of the manifesto, with the BJP pledging to expand its Chirayu-Ayushman Yojana. The scheme promises Rs 10 lakh in health coverage per family, and an additional Rs 5 lakh for the elderly above 70 years.

This healthcare coverage is aimed at making medical treatment more affordable and accessible to all sections of society.

Additionally, the BJP plans to provide free dialysis services in government hospitals and free diagnostic services across all hospitals in the state. This initiative is expected to offer significant relief to families struggling with the costs of healthcare, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

  1. Support for Farmers

Agriculture, a key sector in Haryana, is another crucial area addressed in the BJP’s manifesto. The party has guaranteed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the purchase of 24 crops, reaffirming its commitment to farmers.

This guarantee of MSP seeks to protect farmers from volatile market prices and ensure that they receive fair compensation for their produce.

In addition to this, the BJP highlights that its government increased compensation to farmers affected by crop loss, with amounts rising from Rs 1,158 crore under the Congress government to Rs 12,500 crore during the BJP’s tenure.

This demonstrates the party’s track record in protecting the interests of the farming community.

  1. Infrastructure and Connectivity Projects

BJP has also announced a slew of infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and transportation within Haryana. The manifesto outlines plans for the construction of the KMP Orbital Rail Corridor, a vital project intended to boost connectivity around the National Capital Region (NCR).

Additionally, new Vande Bharat trains will be introduced, alongside rapid rail services and a metro line connecting Faridabad and Gurugram. These projects are expected to significantly reduce travel times and promote economic activity in these regions.

The manifesto also promises a focus on improving rural infrastructure. BJP plans to construct 500,000 houses in both urban and rural areas under various housing schemes.

This initiative is in line with the party’s commitment to providing affordable housing for all, particularly the economically weaker sections of society.

  1. Social Welfare and Education

For the backward classes and economically disadvantaged groups, BJP has laid out comprehensive plans for social upliftment. The manifesto promises full scholarships for OBC and SC students pursuing medical and engineering degrees at government colleges.

Additionally, OBC entrepreneurs will be eligible for loans up to Rs 25 lakh, alongside other benefits under the Mudra Scheme.

The party also plans to link social pensions with Dearness Allowance (DA) to ensure that the elderly, widows, and other vulnerable groups receive appropriate financial support as the cost of living rises.

  1. Promoting Sports and Tourism

BJP has made significant promises in the field of sports and tourism. To nurture sporting talent, the party aims to establish an Olympic Games nursery in every district.

This initiative is expected to encourage the development of future athletes and promote a culture of sports across Haryana, which is already known for producing Olympic-level athletes.

On the tourism front, the BJP plans to develop a world-class Aravalli Jungle Safari Park in South Haryana. This project is expected to boost tourism in the region while also preserving the natural environment.

  1. Conclusion and Election Context

BJP’s manifesto for Haryana underscores the party’s focus on economic development, social welfare, and infrastructure. By addressing the pressing concerns of employment, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and agriculture, BJP hopes to appeal to a broad cross-section of the electorate. The manifesto also highlights the party’s track record in governance, with emphasis on delivering results in sectors like farming compensation, housing, and industrial growth.

However, the election is expected to be closely contested, as the opposition Congress has also released a manifesto promising key measures like free electricity, the reintroduction of the old pension scheme, and substantial welfare schemes for women and farmers.

With the elections slated for October 5, 2024, both parties are aggressively pitching their visions for the future of Haryana. The BJP, by focusing on a blend of infrastructure, welfare, and employment, aims to consolidate its hold on the state, while the voters now have a clear choice between the two contrasting manifestos.
