Anti- Israel Protest in Dagestan:
there ia a mob storm on the Makhachkala Airport located in Dagestan, Russia in which hundreds of protestors were protesting against Israeli. On Sunday, a plane has arrived from Israel which followed the mass agitation at the airport. According to reports the flight was from Tel Aviv which landed in Makhachkala airport at 7pm (1600GMT). There were numerous demonstrators who were shouting “Allahu Akbar”breaking the security and reached to the runway. The demonstrators also checked the passport of the people at the runway to identify the Israelis. One of the video showed that a protestor were saying that, “Child killers are not allowed”.
Dagestan:-
It is a Muslim dominated country located at the North of the Greater Caucasus of eastern Europe along with Caspian sea. It is officially Republic of Dagestan which situated
southernmost part of the Russia which shares land border with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Chechnya, Kalmykia, and Stavropol Krai. Makhachkala is the capital and the largest city. Both Dagestan and Chechenya are predominantly Muslim region known for their long-standing tensions with the central government.
What’s the matter?-
As we know that Dagestan is a Muslim dominated country and Israel is a Jewish country. The war is going on between Israel and Palestine in which Palestine is Muslim country and in the ongoing war Israel has bombarded the Gaza strip which angered the Muslims of the other countries too and the protest in Dagestan is the result of this. This Anti- Israel protest is basically was against the Jews.
Dagestan government’s action:-
The Dagestan’s govt has communicated with the people through the Telegram and urged them to end these illegal activities and to remain calm. Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, shut down the airport temporarily to secure the airport from protestors and it would remain closed until November 6. They urged the people to handle the situation with understanding and also wrote on Telegram, “We urge residents of the republic not to succumb to the provocations of destructive group and not to create panic in society. The supreme Mufti of Dagestan, Sheikh Akhmad Afandi, called on residents to stop unrest at the airport.
The condemnation from other Countries:-
Us has condemned the ‘antisemitic protest’ at the Makhachkala airport, ‘Adrienne Watson’ a White House National Security Council Spokesperson said on ‘X’ formerly twitter as US stands with Israel unequivocally.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy , also condemned the protest as he has the Jewish roots . He criticised this as a reflection of Russia’s deep- seated animosity towards other nations. According to reports Dagestan has contributed a significant number of fighters to Ukraine as compared to other Russian regions .
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has issued a statement emphasizing expectation for Russia to ensure the safety of the Israelis and Jews in the country. Israeli leader asked the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu to protest against the ‘riot’ with Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Consequences of the Protest: In the protest, more than 20 people were injured and two were in critical condition, the regional health authority said, and sixty protestors were also arrested.
The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, clearly stands with Palestine, and after the protest, he has given his statement that the protest is the result of ‘external interference’ and alleged that the West and Ukraine are behind the riot to divide Russian society. The governor of Dagestan also said that the riots were organized by a Russian enemy from Ukraine. On the same day, it was reported that a Jewish center in another Caucasus republic, Kabardino Balkaria, was set on fire in Nalchik city. According to reports, attacks on Jews are globally increasing after October 7.
