The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 February 2026 in New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, marking a major milestone in global cooperation on artificial intelligence. It will be the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South, signalling India’s growing role in shaping the future of responsible, inclusive, and impactful AI development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the India AI Impact Expo and preside over key sessions during the summit. The event will run alongside a large expo showcasing real-world AI innovations and applications from India and around the world.

Massive Global Participation

This summit has attracted unprecedented international attention:

  • 20+ heads of state and government from around the world are attending, highlighting AI’s strategic importance for national development.
  • More than 40 global CEOs, 20+ heads of state, ministers, researchers and technologists will take part in high-level discussions and collaborative sessions.
  • Global attendance and registrations are massive — tens of thousands of participants from over 100+ countries are expected to converge in Delhi across the five days.

Leading Tech Figures & Speakers

The summit will feature some of the most influential leaders in AI and technology, including:

  • Sundar Pichai — CEO of Google
  • Sam Altman — CEO of OpenAI
  • Dario Amodei — CEO of Anthropic
  • Demis Hassabis — CEO of Google DeepMind
  • Bill Gates — Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
…and leaders from major Indian tech companies and conglomerates.

However, one notable absence is Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA — he will not attend due to “unforeseen circumstances”, although a senior delegation from the company will still participate.

Key Themes & Agenda

The summit isn’t just a showcase — it’s built around major global discussions and frameworks shaping AI’s future:

  • People, Planet, and Progress — three core pillars guiding the summit’s agenda.
  • Over 700 sessions focusing on AI safety, governance, ethics, data protection, economic opportunities and social value.
  • Dedicated working groups, called “chakras”, will address priority areas such as human capital, safe AI, inclusion, resiliency, economic impact, and shared AI resources.
  • India is advocating for a global “AI commons” — a shared framework to democratise access to AI tools, data and use cases, especially for developing nations.

Youth & Innovation Highlights

A major feature of the summit is YUVAi — a global youth-focused AI challenge that has drawn over 2,500 applications from 38+ countries. The top 20 finalists will present innovative AI solutions addressing real-world problems such as public health, climate resilience, accessibility and agriculture. Prizes worth Rs. 15 lakh and other awards will be given to outstanding projects.

Economic Impact

Ahead of the summit, India announced that AI investments may top $200 billion, with nearly $90 billion already pledged across compute infrastructure, data platforms and foundational technologies — reflecting strong global investor confidence in AI development.

Local Logistics & Preparations

With the summit coinciding with the start of the CBSE board exams, Delhi authorities have instituted traffic advisories and coordinated public transport plans to minimise disruption. A special focus has been placed on ensuring smooth access to venues for delegates and the general public.

The New Delhi Municipal Council has carried out wide-ranging beautification and cleanup drives across the national capital ahead of the event, aiming to enhance civic hygiene and city infrastructure for visitors.

Why This Matters

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 positions India as a central hub for global AI discourse, shifting the narrative from AI risks and governance toward practical, inclusive impact. By bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia and civil society, the summit aims to chart a collective roadmap for how AI can be developed responsibly and applied for broad societal benefits — across education, healthcare, agriculture and sustainability.

With world leaders, top tech CEOs, visionary thinkers, students and innovators all converging in Delhi, the summit represents both a strategic diplomatic push and a powerful signal of India’s ambition to shape the future of artificial intelligence globally.
