On December 28, 2024, a devastating incident occurred in Mumbai’s Kandivali area when a car of Marathi actress Urmila Kothare struck two laborers working on the metro project near Poisar Metro Station. The accident resulted in the death of one worker and left another severely injured.

The accident took place around 12:45 AM when Kothare was returning to her residence in Thane after a shoot. Her driver, identified as 58-year-old Gajanand Gunnipal, lost control of the vehicle, which was traveling at high speed, and collided with barricades near the construction site.
The car then struck two laborers, Samratdas Jeetendradas and Saajan Bablu Ravidas, who were engaged in work for the metro project. Jeetendradas succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Ravidas was rushed to Mauli Hospital in Malad East for treatment.

Both Kothare and her driver sustained minor injuries, attributed to the timely deployment of the car’s airbags. They were treated at a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
