Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history today by flying in the Tejas fighter aircraft .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, visited at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) complex of Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) which is situated at Bengaluru, the capital of Karnatak in the morning. Here, he visited to attend the review meeting of manufacturing facilities of HAL and Tejas fighter jets. He also flew in the Tejas fighter jet which is a indigenous production of India.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized for the indigenous production in the defence sector. According to sources, the Indian Air Force has ordered for the 83 Tejas fighter jets as the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is producing only eight aircraft in a one year.After attending the review meeting he was about to leave for the campaign of the assembly election in Telangana.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is a public sector enterprise which is owned by the government which has its headquarter in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was established by the Walchand Hirachand in collaboration with Kingdom of Mysore on 23 December 1940.

In 1942 the company became nationalised as government of India has bought the one-third stake by investing Rs.25 lakh so it is the oldest and one of the largest aerospace in the world. The President of India appointed the board of directors which looks the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) complex.

The company designs and manufactures various helicopter, fighter jets, jet engine and spare parts etc. Currently the chairman and Managing Director (MD) of the HAL is CB Ananthakrishnan. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) also signed an agreement with one of the largest European manufacturing company of aircraft, Airbus to establish the Maintenance Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities which is dedicated to the A-320 family of aircraft.

The Tejas fighter aircraft is designed and manufactured by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in the collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) for the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy. This is a light weight aircraft which is going to replace the India’s age old aircraft Mig-21 which was purchased from Russia.

This new aircraft has the ability to fly in any weather and was named as Tejas in 2003 which officially came in operation in 2011. Mark 1, Mark 1A and the trainer version are the three models of the Tejas Aircraft.

As the aircraft is an indigenous production which is part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ scheme so the project is of national importance because it change the picture of India in the world.

“Atmanirbhar bharat” and “Make in India” scheme:-

The Make in India scheme is an advanced version of the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme. The Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant scheme was announced by the Prime Minister of India on 12 May 2020. The scheme was introduced to make the citizens of the country self-reliant and gives the five pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat- Economy, Infrastructure, System, Vibrant Demography and Finance.

The scheme was to change the image of India from ‘local India’ to ‘ global India’. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi after flying in the Tejas Aircraft he was looking very happy and proud which he shared in the ‘X’ formerly known as the twitter.
