Student suicide deaths in Kota, 2023

Kota, Rajasthan, is famous as a coaching hub for IIT and NEET preparation. Every year, thousands of students come to the city to prepare for one of these toughest examinations, but many students commit suicide.

This year in 2023, at least 26 students have committed suicide in Kota, and the reason is unknown, but it is estimated that the reason behind these suicides is the constant academic pressure to crack the examination, and sometimes students find themselves alone to deal with such a competitive environment, which sometimes causes depression, and at the end, as a consequence, students commit suicide.

Solutions to prevent student suicide deaths

Many students are committing suicide now due to academic pressure, which is very disturbing because these students are the future of our country, and we should take steps to stop these suicides.

First of all, parents of the students should be very supportive towards their children, whether they are performing well or poorly in their academics, and should not criticize them every time. In the institution, teachers should be trained in mental health first aid so they can help the students by providing counseling services. There should be an open discussion of mental health and suicide among the students.
