Constitution Day 2023: Know about our constitution and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Digital News Guru Delhi Desk: The Constitution Day is celebrated in India on 26 November every year. On this day, in 1949 the constituent assembly has formally adopted the Constitution which came into effect in 26 January 1950.

Earlier it was celebrated as ‘National Law Day’ but in 2015, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced this day to be celebrated as Constitution Day.

According to reports, a statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is going to install in the premises of the Supreme Court which will be inaugurated by the current President of India Draupadi Murmu on Sunday where Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud and Union Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present and paid their tributes to the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution.

What is Constitution:- The constitution of any country is a list fundamental rules and rights are essential to run a country. Basically these rules and rights are given for the state and citizens of the country. The original Constitution consists of the- The Preamble, 395 Articles and 8 Schedule but presently it consists of a Preamble, about 470 Articles and 12 Schedules. These set of rules are very important to run the country systematically.

Significance of the Indian Constitution:- Constituent Assembly was constituted on November 1946 and when India got independence on 1947 from the clutches of Britishers but it was adopted in 1949, which defines the relationship between the citizens of India and the Indian government.

In Indian government, fundamental rights of citizens are given on which violations one can go to the court.But besides the fundamental rights there are fundamental duties are also given for the citizens of the country which has its moral and ethical importance which every person should follow. There are ‘Directive Principles of State Policy’ are also given which are basically duties of the State. So, in the constitution every rules and rights has its own importance which is essential to balance the rights of citizens and the country.

About Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar:- The father of Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in the town and the military cantonment Mhow which is presently called Ambedkar Nagar in Madhya Pradesh. His father’s name was Ramji Maloji Sakpal who was on the rank of Subedar in the Army and the mother’s name was Bhimabai Sakpal and he was the 14th and the youngest child of his parents.

When he was born, at that time discrimination was prevailing in the society and the Bhimrao Ambedkar was born in Mahar caste which were treated as untouchables and were not providing equal treatment which made him upset. In 1897, he was admitted to the Elphinstone High School in Mumbai and in later in 1906 he married to Ramabai, a nine year old girl.

After passing the matriculation examination he taken admission in University of Bombay and obtained his degree in Economics and Political Science in 1912 and one year later he went to the Columbia University in New York City to get the degree in post-graduation.Later in 1936 he joined politics and founded the Independent Labour Party. He did many reforms to change the mindset of society towards the dalit or untouchables.

He became the chairman of the drafting committee and prepare the constitution of India and after that he also served as the first Law Minister of India under the Leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru as the Prime Minister of Country.
